Welcome to my blog, or should I say to the ramblings of an old man. I doubt that my ramblings are of much value, but at least I have an opportunity to share them.  So, please be kind and humor me. If nothing else of value stands out in these thoughts, I hope that you at least sense the value I place on a daily walk with the Lord.  That walk is what has provided me with motivation and a sense of purpose throughout my lifetime.  My prayer is that you, too, are experiencing this direction and joy in daily living which is available to everyone who puts his trust in Christ.  So, thanks again for joining me.  Please don't go without leaving some comments here so I can get to know you better as our paths intersect today in this blog.

What's Next?

         This has been a very difficult few weeks for Americans and especially for  Christians.  The events of this time will have an impact on our lives and those of future generations.  America will never be the same.
         During these recent days we have seen the President defeated.  His actions have helped the Democrats win two special elections and regain control of the Senate.  His accusations have stirred up protests that led to vandals breaking into the Capitol and disrupting Congress.  Who ever thought this would happen in the United States.
          Former friends and appointees have quickly begun to resign their positions and separate themselves from President Trump like rats abandoning a sinking ship.  The fallout has been rapid and worldwide.
          For four years the Democrats had done everything they could to block him and defeat him.  Now in these final days of his term they have finally won when he chose to be obstinate and make accusations about the election which he couldn't defend.  In the end he played right into their hands and now faces demands for his resignation and the threat of impeachment and prosecution.  What a sad ending!
          Five years ago I was amused when Donald Trump entered the Presidential race.  I thought it was a joke.  He had money but no political experience or political support.  I figured he had no chance of winning but his message and promises and the general dislike of his opponent propelled him to a surprise victory.
          And he surprised us by making many important changes.  His support of Christian values was amazing.  His battles against abortion were impressive.  He made impressive improvements in the economy as shown by the stock market which has reached record levels.  He led amazing agreements between Israel and middle east countries.
          One of his most important accomplishments had to do with the many conservative appointments that were made on all levels to our courts.  This was highlighted by the appointment of two conservative Supreme Court justices.  In the past our courts have acted more like law and policy makers than judges. His appointments may have reversed that.  Unfortunately the new liberal administration will make it a priority to reverse this including an attempt to expand the number of Supreme Court justices.
           I voted for him because of the contrast between his goals and those of the liberal left.  However his personality made him hard to defend and because of it many of my friends would not vote for him.  He is a real egotist and know it all.  He constantly made fun of and put down all sorts of people.  He bragged that he knew everything.  He regularly tweeted his negative comments.  And he probably lied at times.  And with this personality and his conservative actions it is no wonder that so many hated him.
           So where do we as a nation go from here?  Well President Biden and Vice President Harris are already beginning an ultra liberal approach which will begin to limit the work of churches and Christians.  Abortion will be promoted.  Anti-Biblical values will be pushed. Liberals will be placed in all important places. Big money giveaways will be common helping to destroy the economy.  Worldwide terrorism will expand. The media will continue to support and promote these efforts.
          Life as we have known it will change and never be the same again.  Will this be the end of democracy as we have known it? Possibly.  Time will tell.
           But America doesn't deserve anything else.  We kill babies and don't value life.  We promote anti-Biblical policies and have no time for God in public dealings.  Maybe God has reached the end of His patience with America and judgment is coming.
          So what do we do as Christians?  We must realize that God is in control of our lives and will never leave us.  We have His presence with us no matter what happens around us.  All that happens to us is in His control and we must rest in that.  And we need to continue as Believers and live as lights in this dark world.  And daily must trust Him and we need to remember that earth is not our home.

1.   Simply trusting every day,
Trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Refrain:
Trusting as the moments fly,
Trusting as the days go by;
Trusting Him whate'er befall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

2.   Brightly doth His Spirit shine
Into this poor heart of mine;
While He leads I cannot fall;
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

3.   Singing if my way is clear,
Praying if the path be drear;
If in danger for Him call;
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

4.   Trusting Him while life shall last,
Trusting Him till earth be past;
Till within the jasper wall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.
